Why You Should Choose a Fiberglass Pool

When fiberglass pools first came out, the only color available was a stark white that screamed to the neighborhood you went with the less expensive option.  They first hit the market in the 1950s, but the 1990s and early 2000s acted as a renaissance for their manufacturers as the range of options went from limited to plenty.  In recent years, fiberglass pools have become the go-to option for families on a tighter budget who are looking for a customized look.

Unlike gunite pools, fiberglass pools are made in a quality control facility using an exact replica mold of the pool shape.  Pool shells take 1-2 days to make, but the process to make the mold can take more than 3 months.  With the time-consuming part of shaping the pool and creating the shell done off-site at the manufacturers’, installing a fiberglass pool can shave months off your pool installation.  Your pool contractor simply needs to dig an appropriate hole, install plumbing, and set the fiberglass pool shell.  Once the pool shell is in place, the patio and coping can be installed to complete your backyard pool.

Fiberglass pools come in many different shapes and sizes now, with options such as a tanning shelf, attached spa, and more. You can go modern with the clean lines of a rectangular pool or natural lagoon with a more organic shape. Coping options, tile options, colors in varying shades of blue, reen, taupe, or grey makes it hard to find two fiberglass pools that look exactly the same.  Whatever you choose, your backyard will truly be customized for you and your family down to the smallest details.
